We just got back from an epic time at Sony Xlod Beach Hop, and already our article on the event has gone to print. Whangamata was the scene for the 11th annual Beach Hop last weekend and saw hundreds of stunning machines head along to the Coromandel holiday town. There was crusing, car shows and even beauty pageants at the 2011 event. Naturally NZV8 was there to take it all in and bring you back over 300 photos of how it all went down.

The annual Beach Hop is back for 2011 and is getting into full stride this week with the main festivities scheduled for this weekend.
Now in its 11th year Beach Hop is a 1950s, 60s style event held in the seaside holiday resort town of Whangamata. The festival celebrates the music, culture, fashion, hot rods, motorbikes, muscle cars, dancing, dragsters, and even scooters of this golden automotive era. The festival has grown from 4,000 to over 70,000 people in the last six years. This makes it one of the largest events of its kind in the world. All proceeds raised are donated to emergency services in the area. So get down to Whangamata this weekend and be part of the spectacle.

The 10th anniversary of Beach Hop at Whangamata saw thousands of hot rods, muscle cars, rat rods, lowriders and more descend on the sleepy seaside town. The cruise to Onemana with more than a thousand cars was amazing. The weather was awesome, and so were the people. We’re looking forward to Beach Hop 2011!

The NZV8 team have made their way down to the Whangamata Beach Hop and it looks huge already, with a massive turn out expected to celebrate the 10th birthday of the event.

If you’re planning on heading to one of the best car events of the year – the annual Beach Hop in Whangamata then you could make yourself some coin while you’re there.
Meguairs are looking for guys and girls to walk the main street of Whangamata on Saturday the 27th of March handing out flyers.
You’ll have to be energetic and well presented with plenty of personality. You will be provided with a black T-shirt and hat for your uniform, but you must wear your own black pants and shoes.

Beach Hop 09 has been reduced to a 4 day festival to help keep costs down for entrants. Unfortunately the ‘Cruising the Loop’ convoy to Coromandel Town has been canceled. With the 220km trip proving too expensive.
