The video below is an eye-opener to how far illegal street racing has evolved in some countries. While a criminal element of street racers exist among almost every car culture in the world, in Sweden the illegal drag races have become highly organised and involve cars with awesome power.

In the video below, a local enthusiast tells the camera how an annual illegal street race takes place in their home country of Sweden. The same race has been happening once a year since the 1970s. We are taken to the underground race in Stockholm that took place last weekend and apparently around 32 cars took place. Some cars were wearing slick tyres and some had more than 1,000 horses under the bonnet. There were drivers that also brought their machines by trailer to the area from as far away as Norway, Finland and Poland. How far away is that? Who knows, but it’s very far to drive for a street race that may be shut down by the cops. (more…)
