Dan Gurney’s 1969 Mustang Boss 302 race car for sale

May 28th, 2010 by NZV8

If you’ve got a few million dollars laying around and looking to make what many would consider to be a sound investment then you might like to consider this current stateside eBay listing.

It’s a rare opportunity to purchase a piece of American muscle car history, one of Dan Gurney’s 1969 Mustang Boss 302 race cars. The Boss 302 campaigned in numerous race series in the late sixties, early seventies, eventually helping Ford take out the coveted 1969 Trans Am manufacturers championship.

According to the eBay listing, this particular Boss 302 was actually the prototype for the rest of the Trans Am Mustangs raced during that season and was built for Caroll Shelby’s team by Kar Kraft.

Naturally, as one would expect from a car with such provenance, there’s piles of documentation which include signed letters from the man himself, Caroll Shelby, actual race photo’s and even Kar Kraft engineering drawings.

Hummer officially sold to China’s Tengzhong

October 12th, 2009 by NZV8

Hummer H3 fq

General Motors has finally reached an agreement to flog-off Hummer onto China’s Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery. Tengzhong is set to take an 80 percent stake and a private investor grabbing the rest.

Details on the deal include Hummer contracting back vehicle manufacturing to GM, with the GM’s Shrevport and Mishawaka plants continuing to produce vehicles through June of 2011, with a possible extension until 2012. A recent report says the sale will get GM around $150 million, although the transaction still has to be approved by both U.S. and Chinese regulatory agencies.

Tengzhong, which only produces commercial trucks and industrial equipment, has never entered into consumer vehicles before, but chief executive Yang Yi is confident saying, “we are excited about some of the initiatives already underway at Hummer that we believe our investment will be able to accelerate, particularly related to the creation of the next generation of more fuel-efficient vehicles to meet not only future regulations but also customer expectations.”
