At Powercruise 2009 the Off-Street Racing event kicked off with a massive amount of cars, but soon came down to Mark Coffee’s CUBES 1934 Chev, Aaron Jenkins’s PSYCO8 HQ Monaro, Aleck’s W ZONE RX-7, Doug Stewart’s blown Camaro, Dion McAlister’s T-Bucket, Kevin Boyd’s V8KILR Toyota Supra, Wayne Grimmer’s Cuda, Mike Black’s HQ ute, Chris Robinson’s Chevelle, and Craig Date’s FATROD T-Bucket.

While the smart money was on the big-tyre cars of Craig Date, Wayne Grimmer and Mike Black, there were upsets galore, although the only person who should be truly gutted was Dion McAlister, when a rod punched a hole in the side of his block, ending his day in a hurry. Aleck Lovell, was making himself known by knocking off car after car, as was Doug Stewart. Kevin Boyd in his 10-second Toyota Supra was also doing the rounds, and much to his delight no doubt, made sure he lived up to his car’s V8KILR number plate by ending up in the final against Doug Stewart.

It was to be a battle of 3-litre turbo six-cylinder versus blown big block Detroit iron, however, with Doug bogging on his launch, it was over before it was even started, and the trophy went to Boyd.
