Hennessey pushes Cadillac CTS-V to 707hp (+video)

February 11th, 2010 by NZV8

Over Stateside the Cadillac CTS-V has been hailed as one of the finest cars ever built by General Motors. But despite this praise for yank motoring journalists tuning firm Hennessey Performance thinks there’s room for improvement.  To prove it the team at Hennessey have come up with the V700 upgrade package that boosts the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 to more than 700 horsepower.

How exactly do you squeeze more than 150 more horsepower out of the LSA V8? Hennessey adds a cold air induction system, a smaller supercharger pulley, a new engine management system, long tube headers, three-inch exhaust system with high-flow cats, an upgraded intercooler, reworked cam, and high-flow heads. It’s that simple.

The end result takes  horsepower up to 707 at 6300 rpm, and torque is rated at 701 lb-ft. That makes for some impressive on-track performance, including a 0-100 kph time of just 3.3 seconds and a scary top speed of of 340kph. Luckily, Hennessey had the cameras rolling during its testing, so you can watch the Hennessey CTS-V tear up the drag strip in the video below.

What happens when you drop a Corvette ZR1-sourced supercharged V8 tuned to output 705 horsepower into the engine bay of a Chevrolet Camaro? You have one crazy fast pony car. Add performance parts from American tuner Hennessey to keep all that power focused on the road and you’ve got a vehicle worthy of a lap video on NZV8.

The team at Hennessey wanted to make sure that their modded Camaro is worthy of its hefty price tag, so they decided to test their high-powered beast on the track. Tough job.

Check out the video of the HPE700 LS9 Camaro as it takes on the road course at MSR Houston, USA.
