A massive weekend is planned from today for Marineland Street Rods with cruises, a swap meet and shows all going down. The theme for the weekend is the Fabulous ’50s.

Registration is at the clubrooms at Meeanee Speedway, Sandy Rd, Meeanee, Napier from 6pm today – Friday, April 29.

Saturday’s run is between 9am and 2pm, and the night function will be ’50s themed – so dressing in the style of that era is strongly recommended.

Sunday will include entertainment for all ages with some cool stuff like a car drop, a staged two-car collision, drag car fire-ups, remote-control car racing, children’s rides, a ’50s-style fashion show, and rock’n’roll dancing. (more…)

The Sounds of Chrome Festival is all set for this weekend (26- 27 Feb 2011) and has something for all V8 fans. This inaugural event will celebrate all things V8, including V8s from Australia, Europe, America and Asia (JDM).

There will also be an Auto Trade Show, demonstration racing cars, bikinis, Metalman Burn out Competition, Kids Zone and even cheerleaders as well as a licensed premises.

There is also Radio Hauraki’s Live rock concert on the Saturday evening with Dragon headlining the night with The Jordan Luck Band and Dirty Dozen.

Mothers are the Masters of Metal and they are excited to be hosting the inaugural Mothers V8 Auto Festival at Sounds of Chrome. Mothers loyal customers have been polishing Chrome on their vehicles with Mothers Chrome Polish since Jesus was a cowboy, so they thought it’s only fair to give you a highly polished V8 Auto Festival.

Kicker Car Audio are special guests and will be hosting New Zealand’s largest display of supercharged V8s. A People’s Choice competition will be running on Saturday with fantastic Mothers Car Care Prizes up for grabs. Dr Detail will be on hand offering advice on caring for your car’s interior and exterior. The Pavilion will have a selection of new handpicked V8 powered vehicles from select dealers.

Hampton Downs Motor Sport Park that is located 30 minutes south of Papakura, or 45 minutes north of Hamilton.

The Rockonz Rock and Roll Festival kicks off this coming Sunday (May 10) with a hot rod and classic car parade. Set in Christchurch the parade sets the scene for the Rockonz Festival which celebrates the rock and roll era – lifestyle, music and dance from the 1950′s through to the 1970′s.  As with every generation, the cars and motorbikes were an integral part of the lifestyle of the youth of the time and the parade celebrates these machines.

The 2009 Rockonz parade will process from New Brighton along a wide loop of Christchurch with the route ending by entering Cathedral Square via Colombo Street.  The vehicles will park in Cathedral Square from midday until 4:00pm when they will process down Colombo Street to the Cashmere Club car park and once again go on display.  There will be a barbecue ($5.00) from 5.00pm with easy listening Rock and Roll music.  This will be followed by a Rock and Roll dance from 6:00pm (Entry $5.00) held at the Cashmere Club. The barbecue and dance will be fund raising for Canteen (Teenagers with Cancer).
