The first round of the V8SuperTourer series was one of the most anticipated motorsport events New Zealand has seen for many years.
The series, which has 16 highly competitive drivers in identically specced cars saw amazing close competition, with just 3/10th of a second separating the top ten lap times in qualifying.
Greg Murphy took the honour of being the first ever race winner, with Kane Scott coming second and Andy Booth third. Booth held the lead for much of the race only to get overtaken as his tyres started going off.
Here’s a few photos from the first day of the event. More to follow in the next few days. Also, check out our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/nzv8magazine) and feel free to upload pics of your own.
