GT Radial’s latest performance touring tyrer will be available to New Zealand motorists this month.

The Champiro 228 is the latest addition to a range of new tyres from GT Radial and follows hot on the heels of the recently released Champiro HPY, a high performance tyre speed rated to 300km/h.

Overseas tests have already acclaimed the 228’s cornering ability, wet braking prowess and dry braking performance.

“The Champiro 228 is especially well suited to New Zealand driving conditions as it provides extraordinary grip in wet and dry conditions,” said Tyres4U National Sales Manager for passenger tyres, Craig Wylde.

“Furthermore, it is manufactured with a Nanotek silica compound which delivers low rolling resistance for enhanced fuel economy, making it an ideal companion for motorists who enjoy driving and getting the most out of their tyres.”

Positioned as a superior touring tyre but without the premium price tag, the all-new Champiro 228 is designed for low noise and a comfortable ride.

The new tyre is also more environmentally considerate, as non-aromatic oils are used in the manufacturing process.

Four wide circumferential grooves provide efficient water ejection and outstanding wet-weather performance, while extended shoulder grooves offer excellent cornering.

“A nice feature of the new tyre is the incorporation of the ‘Champiro 228’ name into the centre rib,” said Mr Wylde.

“It’s a stylish touch which demonstrates the attention to detail applied by GT Radial Tyres when developing and manufacturing the new range.”

As with all GT Radial car, 4WD and light-truck tyres, the Champiro 228 is available with the ‘DRIVE 5IVE’ a free tyre replacement guarantee.
