If you thought four Fast and Furious movies was enough, you’re probably right. If you thought they were going to stop there, you’re wrong.
Universal Stusios has just announced the return of the Fast and Furious franchise for a fifth outing, coming to cinemas in 2011.
Vin Diesel stirred up some rumour last month with comments on his Facebook profile, now it’s for real. The next instalment is named ‘Fast Five’ and will be written by Fast & Furious scribe Chris Morgan.
Stars Paul Walker and Vin Diesel will be back for the new film, and director Justin Lin, the man responsible for the third and fourth films has also been confirmed to return.
The story is expected to continue on from last year’s Fast & Furious, this time with Dom (Diesel) and Brian (Walker) being pursued by the cops.
Fast & Furious was Universal’s highest-grossing film for 2009, pulling in around $400 million worldwide. The film missed out on the year’s top 10 grossing films, and was even beaten to tenth-place by dull kids flick Night at the Museum 2 which made $480 million USD worldwide.

I really liked this movie and hope that Universal partners with motorsports associations when promoting the movie to stop people from duplicating what occurs on the big screen. They should hook-up with Carberra Motorsports and Evo Street Racers to get the word out.
