International comedian Ewen ‘The Westie’ Gilmour and the Tuakau Volunteer Fire Brigade are joining forces to put on one smoking hot night of entertainment in support of their local community and Kiwi kids.

The black-tie fundraising dinner and gala comedy show will be held at the Tuakau Memorial Hall on Saturday February 13.

Money raised will be put towards the purchase of a new water tanker for the brigade and the fundraising endeavours of the GT Radial Hollywood Knights team participating in the annual Variety Bash charity event.

“Our old Dairy Company tanker is one of only three in the entire Franklin district and after 1.3 million kilometres has seen better days,” said brigade representative, Alan Trow. “The addition of a new tanker will provide a much needed extra 12,000-litres of water capacity to help tackle the many fires we encounter every year.”

Ewen Gilmour, who is a Variety Ambassador and also captains the Hollywood Knights Bash team, will MC the function and introduce a number of other acts, including comedy magician Jarred Fell.

The evening will finish with explosive high energy five-piece professional covers band, Split Second.

“The rest of the line-up is close to being finalised and I can assure people it will be a night like no other,” said Ewen Gilmour. “The Tuakau Memorial Hall is a magnificent venue and I’m confident the 200 tickets will sell out quickly.

“This event is shaping up to be the hottest night on the Tuakau social calendar – and not just because there will be more than 20 fire-fighters in uniform.”

A quick-fire charity auction will take place for some large and significant items, while a silent auction for other lots will run throughout the evening.

Tickets to the black-tie event are $100 each and are available from the Tuakau Volunteer Fire Brigade on (09) 232 9803 or via Ed Finn at Tyres4U on 0800 888 973.
