After extensive discussions, the organising team behind the upcoming NAC Drag Combat event to be held at Fram Autolite Dragway on December 4 are proud to announce the classes, which will add a new dimension to local drag racing.
With the theory being to break the field up into groups running on similar size and compound tyres, three distinct catagories will be run, each with their own size orientated sub-classes.
The classes include:
Street Tyres (All treaded wof standard tyres including circuit race style semi slicks)
- Tyres up to and including 235 width
- 245 – 295
- 305 plus
DOT Approved Slick (drag racing specific tyres such as Mickey Thompson ET Street and Hoosier Quick Time Pro)
- Up to and including 10.5-inch
- 11-inch – 14.5 inch
- 15-inch plus
Full Slick (Full slick drag racing tyres, including Goodyear Slicks etc)
- Up to and including 10.5-inch
- 11-inch – 14.5 inch
- 15-inch plus
To offer competitors the maximum for their money, complimentary crew passes will be offered across all classes. Street tyred car drivers will receive two crew passes, Dot Approved drivers three passes and Full Slick drivers four passes, the logic being a full slick
tyred car generally requires more crew members than a street car. All crew members must be in the tow/race vehicle, or the following vehicle upon entry to the vehicle, no exceptions.
Gates open to competitors and spectators at 7AM, and scrutineering will close at 10am sharp. All vehicles must be scrutineered on their race tyres, which will be marked accordingly. Racing will start 9.30am.
Besides a day of action packed racing that will see doorslammers versus funny cars, turbos versus nitrous and V8’s versus imports, will be New Zealand’s first ever wheelstand comp.
The Champion Oils Wheelstand Champs will have the crowds on their feet as the drivers aim to go as high as they can for as long as they can in an attempt to secure the $2000 cash prize. There’s also a burnout comp and FMX displays taking place throughout the day.
Competitor entry is just $50, and is on the day only, no pre-registration required. All entry enquires should be directed to Azhar on 021 485 887.
