I was flicking through the latest edition of NZV8 and was already impressed with Todd’s work by the time I got to the page 17 events guide, how was I to know a simple turn of the page would catapult me into the stratosphere..
I got a call from Todd a few weeks back asking me about the online build diary and if there was a specific entry I though encompassed the feel of the diary as a whole.. I did think the posts after the round win at Masterton were pretty cool, I mean they got some comments and even a mention in a previous issue of NZV8 but aside from that I didn’t put much more thought into it.. he wanted to mention it in the mag but I think I ended up jus leaving it to him..
when I turned to page 18 I was smiling like the proverbial Cheshire Cat.. this shot was taken by Adam at the recent Central Muscle Cars sponsor day, my son is wearing my Scott Russell replica Shoei I wore on my wedding day.
it shows the car off well and highlights the sponsor signage of those who support us most: Firestone Wainuiomata, Road and Track, Clint’s Auto Electrical and of course Ziggy’z Wainuiomata. I am hoping that some of you business type folks who read my blog will see a space on the flanks of the family car for your company’s signage or logo. we are looking at some upgrades to the engine and hope that the exposure we receive through NZV8 and our own exposure through regular track days, successfully drag racing the car in the NZDRA Super Street bracket, the family car blog and the mobile billboard the family car represents. this car gets noticed and so do the sponsors who support us, so get on board..
this is me alright, and if you think the family car gets noticed well I guess you could add that “so does the driver”. I get the odd second look but my sponsors surely agree that I ain’t no filthy biker type and I can even keep a conversation going if needed.
I was stoked to see the positive comments attributed to the blog by the team at NZV8 and I really appreciate all the feedback. this isn’t a classic “how I built my car” blog it’s just me talking about the car, sometimes I don’t even do anything to her I simply talk about my plans for her.. there is always so many things to do to the family car, least of all getting the funds together to maintain her and pay the team at Wilsons in Petone who look after her. which reminds me I better give Marise a call or she’ll want my non-paying ass in a sling..
two things are for sure, I never seem to have any probs
a) finding stuff to do to her and
b) finding the words to tell you about it..
catch you later on..
