“Camaro:$25,000..Accessories:$1,000…Finishing a run on all four wheels?…PRICELESS
Who could forget Nigel Dixon and his run of bad luck. Firstly, his beautiful ’55 Chev decided to act on its own and cross the centre line to smack into the barrier, crushing the front left hand side two feet and ripping the suspension out. If that wasn’t bad enough, the ’67 camaro he worked so hard to build up in such a short amount of time (with a lot of help along the way!) ended up hitting a barrier and rolling. Nigel, thankfully walked away from both crashes unharmed, just very shaken up. His cars however, were a different story.
Ryan Sheldon contacted me after I did the funny car drawing asking if I would do one of Nigel’s Camaro. I was more than happy too and this is the end result. Nigel was happy with it I was told, once it was finished and received. I met Nigel at one of the meetings I went too and Ryan introduced me. A smile crept up on his face and the first words he said were “Ah. So you were the one who drew that picture..Nice.” Just those few simple words made me smile.
I admire Nigel Dixon. He’s been through some tough times but I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of him and that pretty bright yellow ’67 Camaro. Can’t wait to see you back on the start line Nigel!
